How to View Previous Login Information On the Windows Sign In Screen

By default, most versions of Windows will record events every time a user tries to log in, including those who successfully log in or not. You can view this information by going to the Event Viewer, but there is also a way to add login information on the sign in screen. To do this, you need to go into the Windows Registry.

To get started, open the Registry Editor by hitting Start and typing “regedit.” Press Enter to open the Registry Editor and give it permission to make changes to your PC.

In the Registry Editor, use the left sidebar to navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Then, you have to create a new key in the “System” subkey. Right-click on the System icon and select New > DWORD (32-bit). Name the new key as “DisplayLastLogonInfo”.

Next, double click the “DisplayLastLogonInfo” key to open its properties window. Change the value from 0 to 1 in the “Value data” box and then click OK.

You can now close the Registry Editor. The next time you log into Windows, after entering your password, you will see a screen showing the previous log in information. You have to click OK to enter Windows.

If you want to reverse this change, go back to the Registry Editor and change the DisplayLastLogonInfo value from 1 back to 0.
