Enable Hibernate on Windows 10 | Here's how to do it.

How to Enable Hibernate on Windows 10

In Windows 10, there are three basic options when you shut down your computer: shut down, sleep and restart. If you choose to shut down, your PC will do different things depending on whether hibernate mode is enabled or not.

Hibernate is almost the same as Sleep mode. This means you can resume all your data where it left off, all your apps will open where you left them, and browser tabs will also stay open. Hibernate is also linked to Fast Startup in Windows 10.

In Sleep mode, all this information is stored in RAM, which makes it quick to resume when you “wake up” your PC. But if the power is turned off, or the battery in your laptop suddenly drops, you'll have to boot from scratch again and might even lose any unsaved work.

With hibernate, all open application data and unsaved documents are saved to the hard drive in a file called hiberfil.sys. Even if your PC shuts down for weeks, Windows 10 will still read this file on boot up and restore everything as it was when you clicked the Shut Down button.
