2. Configure Debian IP Address

What is IP Address

IP Address (Internet Protocol Address) is the identity of a computer in the form of a binary or numeric number that is used on each computer so that computers can be connected to each other. The IP address that is commonly used by many people, namely IPv4, consists of 4 blocks of decimal numbers where the number cannot exceed the value of 255.

Actually the computer only sends and receives data in the form of binary code in the form of ones and zeros. The IP address contained in the computer is also a binary code which is translated into an array of numbers.

The IP address also serves as the address for sending data to your device. When you access a site, there is actually a process of downloading data sent from that site. This process occurs because of the IP address.

Actually there are two versions of IP addresses, namely IPv4 which has been used since the early days of the internet and IPv6 which was recently created to cover the shortage of IPv4 numbers which will be running out. In addition, IP addresses are also divided into several types and classes. IP addresses can be used to make remote connections with other devices and servers.

3. Next will appear the contents of the interfaces file display, then you change the script a little by changing the word allow-hotplug to auto, and the word dhcp is replaced with static, then below it is filled with ip, netmask, network, and if necessary you fill it in gateway and broadcast as you wish.

Make sure you are careful in typing the command, because if you miss one letter, symbol, or number it will cause an error. For more details, you can see an example as below.

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system

# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).source /etc/network/interface.d/*# The loopback network interface

your car

iface lo inet loopback# The primary network interface

auto ens33

iface ens33 inet saticaddress 192.168.10.1

netmask 255.255.255.0

network 192.168.10.0

gateway 192.168.10.254

broadcast 192.168.10.255

5. Next we test whether our configuration is successful by opening the adapter settings in the control panel then right-clicking on one of the vmware adapters then selecting properties and then clicking Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then selecting properties.

Then you fill in the address and netmask according to the IP class that you used in the Debian interface configuration earlier. Make sure to select the host number that is not in the debian interface configuration so that there are no ip collisions.
