How to Clear History Search on Cortana in Windows 10

 Cortana can be useful, but if you don't want Cortana's search history to be saved, you can delete Cortana's saved information. Here's how to delete History Search Cortana on your PC and on your Bing account.

 Delete History Search Cortana on PC

To clear Cortana search history on your PC, open the Start menu and click the “Settings” icon.


In the Windows Settings dialog box, click “Privacy


In the list of options on the left, click “Speech, inking, & typing”.


Under Getting to know you, click “Stop getting to know me”.


A pop-up dialog box will appear, make sure you want Cortana to stop storing your personal information. Click "Turn off".


This method will not only clear Cortana's search history, it will also stop Cortana from collecting more information about you. There is no separate setting for clearing search history. So, if you just want to clear your search history, but want Cortana to continue to store information about you, click “Get to know me” to change the search history back. A dialog box will appear with the "Turn on" button. Click the button to reactivate Cortana's search history.


You can close Settings now, by clicking on the “X” button in the top right corner. However, if you want to delete the personal information Bing has stored online, continue to the next section.


Deleting Cortana Data Stored in Your Bing Account

The data that Cortana collected on your computer has been deleted, and no further information will be collected. However, the data that has been collected is also stored in your Bing account. To delete data stored in your Bing account, click the “Go to Bing and manage personal info for all your devices” link under Manage cloud info on the Speech, inking, & typing on the Speech, inking, & typing settings screen.


If you have multiple browsers installed on your PC, the next dialog box will ask you which application you want to use to open this link. Select the browser you want to use and click “OK”.


Since you must be logged into your Microsoft account to use Cortana (even with a local Windows account), you will automatically be taken to the Bing account personalization page. Scroll down to the “Other Cortana Data and Personalized Speech, Inking and Typing” section and click “Clear”.

NOTE: If the Personalization page does not appear automatically, you will see a screen to sign in to your Microsoft account. Click “Sign in” and then enter your Microsoft email and password.

A dialog box will appear as below. Click “Clear” to continue.


A message will appear in the “Other Cortana Data and Personalized Speech, Inking and Typing” section indicating that your data has been cleared.
